Privacy

Recs is a small, independent New York City listings and reminder service. This page says what we collect, why, and what we never do — in plain English, because that is the house style.

We use your email for sign-in and the reminders you ask for. Your saved shows, availability, price limit and reminder settings are stored with your account. We never sell your data.

What we collect, and why

• An email address, if you create an account or subscribe to the newsletter. Accounts sign in with an emailed link — there are no passwords for us to store.
• Your preferences, if you set them: the shows you follow, the days that work for you, matinee or evening, a price cap, your reminder hour, your timezone, and an optional display name. They exist so your daily email matches your plans.
• Your own activity, if you record it: marking a lottery “entered” or “skipped,” and any won/lost outcomes you choose to log. We have no way of knowing whether you actually entered or won anything — we only know what you tell us, and it exists so your Saved page can be useful to you.
• Corrections you send through “Report outdated info.”
• Ask Recs requests, when you choose to use that feature. We send the text you enter to OpenAI to turn it into catalog filters. We do not add your email address or account profile to that request. Recs stores a daily request count for your account to enforce usage limits; it does not save your prompt in the database. Your selected filters appear in the result URL and may remain in browser history or hosting logs.

Shared lists and guest votes: lists you create are stored with your account. Anyone with a list link can view it, vote and suggest catalog options. Links may remain in chat previews, browser history or hosting logs. Guest votes use a random browser cookie and a stored hash, without an email address or verified identity. They are not linked to your account. Clear individual votes or all your browser's guest votes from a shared list. Deleting a list removes its votes and disables its link; copies others already made cannot be recalled.

That is the whole list. We don't collect your location — the weather line on the homepage uses fixed New York coordinates for everyone, and the site tells browsers not to request geolocation at all. We don't run advertising trackers. We don't use third-party analytics today; if that ever changes, this page will say so first.

Cookies

Essential ones only: signing in sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. Voting or suggesting on a shared list sets a guest cookie lasting up to 90 days. Votes remain until cleared or the list is deleted; keep the cookie if you want to change or clear your votes. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Email

We send the daily digest at the hour you chose, last-call alerts if you opted in, newsletter issues if you confirmed a subscription, and account emails like sign-in links. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe that works immediately. We never sell or rent your address — or anything else.

Who processes data for us

Supabase provides the database and sign-in, Resend delivers email, and Vercel hosts the site. OpenAI interprets Ask Recs requests. We disable response storage in those API calls; OpenAI may retain data under its API data policies. When you click out to a lottery or ticket page, you leave for that organization's own site under its own privacy policy — and we never append your data to outbound links.

Your data: download it or delete it

Want a copy of what we hold? Settings includes a download-your-data option that exports it to a file, any time. Deleting works the same way: delete your account any time in Settings, and it removes your profile, preferences, follows, logged activity, and our records of the emails we sent you, your AI request counts, and lists you created with their votes. Guest votes on other people's lists are separate from your account; clear them using the shared-list controls. Newsletter-only? The unsubscribe link in any issue removes you. Children

Recs is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date above will move and the change will be noted here before it takes effect.
